Being dumped horribly in this early year and then mourned by loafing around for almost 4 months in my colleagues’ rent house made me looked so screw up this year. I hate to blame those things for my late graduation actually but deep down I am grateful that I had to experience those moments. Thanks to that, I realized that I’ve lost something; my senses of friendship all those past two years and my own dreams. Got hyped pursuit my dreams in late second year, and then screwed up by a woman. Woman, eh? can’t live without them.

I’m not regret it actually, I was glad that I’ve enjoyed my youth to the fullest. Fourth year? Whoa, whoa, whoa, let’s call it “BACKPACKS DAYS” :

Got new friends all over the place, and some enemies too maybe? (I messed around with “polisi cepek” over and over, How dare they suddenly show up in front of Indomaret and take our money).

What’s wrong with this year resolution?

• Being six packs in a year
• Graduate fast and chase the ERASMUS/KAIST scholarship

Maybe because many things happened, plan has changed. Maybe what my friend said is true…

 “You may set your dream as high as possible, but you actually should limit it for your own consciousness”.

Or we just said it “we need mission”?

Another unconscious simulator

Setelah beberapa hari lalu menonton beberapa video dasar badminton Lee Jae Bok, akhirnya gue bisa mempraktekkan kamis lalu. Hasilnya? Cukup sukses. Tiga hal yang berhasil dicoba dan hasilnya kelihatan :

1. Semua jenis pukulan (smash, netting, clear, drive, dll) bukan diayun, tapi dihentakkan. Do not swing it, but blitz it. Alasan pertama mengapa pukulan yang diayun sebaiknya dilakukan adalah bahwa pukulan yang dihentakkan memberikan power yang lebih dibandingkan pukulan yang diayun. Alasan kedua adalah masalah speed. Ketika kita mengayunkan raket, kok cenderung akan bergerak lebih cepat dari ayunan raket kita, sehingga dalam pertandingan yang ketat cara itu akan memberikan untuk lawan yang mengetahui dasar pukulan ini.
2. Entah itu melakukan smash atau clear (lob) shot, ada dua hal yang wajib diperhatikan (sebenarnya ini tutorial smash tapi ternyata bisa diterapkan hampir di semua pukulan back court) : (1) Ketika tangan kanan mengayunkan raket ke belakang, jangan ditarik berputar ke belakang, tapi ditarik lurus ke belakang. (2) Ketika bola sudah berada di kepala kita. Lakukan freeze sejenak. Baru pukul secara mendadak tanpa diayun.
3. Footwork. Posisi yang cukup ideal untuk bermain single & double.

Ini beberapa gerakan yang belum sempat direalisasikan, yang menyebabkan gerakan ini terus kepikiran di kepala. Better do it next time :

2. Deception netting
3. Advanced footwork

Cipaganti 8, 9, 10.

Sore itu kami berdua kembali mendapatkan nomor tempat duduk yang sama dengan keberangkatan kami ke Jakarta. Nomor 8 dan nomor 9 deretan bangku paling belakang. Oh dear, berasa dejavu. Setelah interview berjalan sangat tanggung, perjalanan sore ini dengan kehadiran Mr Kevin di bangku nomor 10, cukup menghibur gue secara pribadi.

Setelah setengah perjalanan Cikampek kami benar-benar mengabaikan dia, setelah berhenti di Rest Area 47 akhirnya gw mengambil inisiatif ngobrol sama dia.

G : Hi, Are you on vacation or for business (well, yeah I asked him out of the blue)

Kaget juga karena dia ngomongnya kenceng banget. Agak malu juga. Tapi karena bule yaudahlah gue nothing to lose aja.

K : Hoo.. Sa-yaa.. di- si… nii.. businiiis…. (dengan logatnya yang campur-campur Indo-Inggris) Saya ada ra-pat besok pagi jam 8

Agak kecewa juga bisa ngomong Bahasa Indonesia, jadi nggak bisa latihan Bahasa Inggris.

G : Where are you come from, sir?

K : Australia

G : Ah, I see.

… (Beberapa kali suka ziiing kehabisan topik sebentar, well, don’t worry perjalanan masih sangat panjang)

G : Are you working for … err  “swasta” or for embassy?

K : ah.. swasta saya bekerja di swasta, saya bekerja di AIIU yang menyediakan jasa student exchange untuk anak SD, SMP, SMA antar Indonesia-Australia

G + D : WHOA!! really, cool. Jadi di bidang pendidikan ya.

K : Betul.

G : What a coincidence, my friend here is interested to take her chance for master scholarship in Australia too.

D : Yes, I want to have scholarship maybe at the end of year.

K : Hoo, sayang, mungkin itu program mulai tahun depan

K : Actually saya sudah di Indonesia sejak 78

K : Ah, hmm.. because I live on Melbourne I only know some universities there. There are 6 university all over Melbourne. Ada University of Melbourne, Swinburn (entah pelafalannya gimana), and also  RMIT. RM IT is good, like  ITB here. My daughter studied there for.. umm.. perancangan pembangunan.

G : Sipil? Civil engineering, isn’t she?

K : yes, yes, Gyenocologist. Maybe if you want have baby you can meet her there. (laughing) her name is Sophie.

K : She is the first woman in Indonesia who become Gyenocologist in Indonesia.

G + D : wow, awesome. around 1978, huh?

K : yes. At that time there are no woman who became gyenocologist. Semua gyenocologist laki-laki nggak mau ada perempuan yang masuk ke ilmu itu dulu. Sudah seperti grup para laki-laki. Well, Sophie is tough woman.

K : no, my son and my daughter speak it better than me. My son took Indonesia language course in Melbourne. My son is work in telecomunication like managing MMS, media telecommunication, broadcast, etc. He was also studied at IT.

G : Do you mean Brisbane Roar? (Agak sotoy, mengingat bukannya yang juara A-league tahun ini klub yang dibeli Bakrie, Brisbane Roar ??)

ah ternyata Sophie tuh orang Indonesia -> bukan sister tapi sister in law dari si istrinya. Dia pernah mampir ke Jambi, Mataram, Bali, Bandung, Jakarta, Surabaya. Mr Kevin juga jadi pioneer (satu dari 4 dosen) university of Brunei. Well, well, akhirnya kami bertukar kontak.

Getting started with Kohana (Day 1)

Note : I will use XAMPP web server (which have PHP 5.3.x) and Kohana version 3.2. a simple beginner tutorial for anyone who really newbie at kohana.

Step 1 : Install Kohana

Download the framework here. Unzip that file on your ‘htdocs’ XAMPP. I will name my project “badass”. So I’ll rename the Kohana package folder into “/badass”. Try it on your localhost http://localhost/badass. Then you should find this page:

If all of the requirements passed, you can continue to step 2.

Intermezzo 1 : Kohana File Structure

Kohana is a HMVC (Hierarchical model–view–controller) which mean that you can split your application into such modules. Each module can have independent MVC (Model, View, again Controller). So what? So.. you can steal the module if you need the same module in the future for other application.

What the, you don’t know MVC. I think wikipedia have explained it well here, dude.

So your kohana package contains these folder in the root :

• badass/application/

• badass/module/

• badass/system/

• badass/example.htaccess

• badass/index.php

• badass/install.php

• etc etc...

I will explain briefly what are these folders.

# Application – it’s where your application files such as MVC-look alike located NORMALLY. Your everything about your application will be here, young padawan.

The MVC configuration is like this :

• /classes/controller/

• /classes/model/

• /views/

BUT, because kohana is a HMVC, you can have hierarchial of those folders configuration. It can look like this later:

# Module –  it’s where your plugin will be put NORMALLY. You can make your own module, if you want. Lol, some of my dudes build their own framework by customizing the module. Ah, don’t worry, Kohana isn’t angry about this. Kohana has BSD license. So feel free to make your own framework.

# System – ugh.. it’s Kohana core system, again NORMALLY. Better leave it if you don’t know anything.

I said NORMALLY three times, you know. (Really, you don’t know what people might doing these days, tweaking, customizing, etc this framework.)

Different enough with CI structure, huh?

Step 2 : Hello world!

1. Remove or rename install.php.

Open /application/bootstrap.php

2. Change these :

Intermezzo 2 : How Kohana route their config at first?

Well, for me it’s disturbing if I don’t know where I start learn my framework. From what I learn, Kohana briefly works like this : index.php in your badass folder will access /application/bootstrap.php. Bootstrap will check default class that will be accessed first (check the last code) :

So, bootstrap.php will access class Welcome, action Index.

Step 3 : URL rewriting, no more index.php

I’m tired now. I won’t explain anything in such detail again, yes. By default if you want to access your class-action you should access this :

http://localhost/badass/index.php/classname/actionname/param1/param2/...

I thinks it’s not cool to have index.php hanging around. You can remove it if you want, so that it will be accessed like this later :

http://localhost/badass/classname/actionname/param1/param2/...

So, we will play .htaccess for a bit. In kohana package, the example of .htaccess is already prepared.

Rename it to .htaccess (if you understand the mod : the permission should at least executable). Edit the file, change the base url. More or less like this

We should configure our web server for a bit so that .htaccess we have prepared works. We should enable rewrite_module in apache config. In my case this config can be found in folder httpd.conf (xampp/apache/conf/httpd.conf). Uncomment by clear the # of rewrite module like this :

For other web server maybe need other configuration. Just google it, my point is rewrite_module have to be enabled.

One last thing, update your bootstrap.php :

Step 4 : Playing a bit with Controller and View

As I explained before that MVC-thingy is located in application folder :

• /classes/controller/

• /classes/model/

• /views/

Keep that in mind that “view” should be used for layout only. Most of us tempted to put logical code into “view”. Well, it’s up to us actually. But if you want to have MVC skill, you should learn to put all of logical code in “controller” class.

I will alter some changes in welcome class that already in folder controller :

Wise man said that we shouldn’t fish for anyone that need help, but we should teach those ones to fish. So please learn it, and ask me if you confused.

Lastly. Wise man again said that you should RTFM (read the F{funny} manual), please.

NB. We haven’t work with M for model in MVC yet. Be prepared!

Tilt Shift Photography-Photoshop

Pengen punya lensa tilt shift tapi nggak punya duit? Cobain efek Photoshop yang satu ini. Sudah dicoba dan cukup memuaskan hasilnya hohoho 😀

1. Buka Photoshop, lalu pilih foto yang ingin diedit (sebaiknya foto yang dipilih diambil dalam sudut elevasi cukup tinggi, misal diambil dari atas gedung dan semacamnya).
2. Masuk ke Quick Mask Mode dengan menekan tombol Q.
3. Pilih Gradient Tool dengan menekan tombol G, lalu pada panel gradient pastikan pilih shape “Reflected Gradient”
4. Buat satu buah garis lurus dengan panjang sesuai kebutuhan pada foto sehingga dihasilkan gradien garis merah (entah itu vertikal ataupun horizontal). Gradien garis merah ini adalah bagian foto yang akan menjadi fokus.
5. Kembali ke mode normal dengan menekan tombol Q. Akan dihasilkan bagian yang terseleksi.
6. Berikan efek blur pada hasil seleksi tersebut. Pilih menu Filter > Blur > Lens Blur.
7. Atur blur sesuai kebutuhan (dalam contoh gue pakai : radius 40, blade curvature 0, rotation 0, brightness 11, threshold 254, sisanya pakai default). OK
8. Deselect seleksi (dengan menekan Ctrl+D)
9. Pengaturan selanjutnya dilakukan hanya untuk menghasilkan efek miniatur. Boleh diikuti, boleh juga nggak :
10. Pengaturan Saturation. Pilih menu Image > Adjustment > Hue/Saturation. Set Saturationnya cukup tinggi antara 40-70. Dengan warna yang mencolok memberikan efek miniatur (lego-like).
11. Pengaturan contrast. Pengaturannya bisa beragam sih, tapi dalam kasus ini gue pakai curve. Pilih menu Image > Adjustment > Curve. Atur secukupnya, tapi jangan terlalu berlebihan. Atur sesuai selera saja.
12. Selesai, voila!

Dalam selang satu hari kesampaian juga nyobain tiga warna lagu yang sangat berbeda satu sama lain. Hasilnya? Wah gue suka tiga-tiganya. SAVED! Masing-masing bisa dinikmati sesuai momen yang tepat 😀

Jack Johnson

Pertama kali denger lagu dia adalah lagu “Upside Down” yang sering diputer di Prambors. Hampir setelah itu nggak tahu lagi lagu-lagu dari sodara Jack ini. Alirannya Soft Rock, atau alternative rock, atau… folk rock.. mungkin folk rock lebih tepat kali ya, mendengar lagunya berasa sedang berada di suburb atau downtown (lol, even tough I doubt that I know what I’m saying). Yang jelas mereka full of beat, santai, dan “lucu”. Ternyata dia juga terkenal gara-gara suka membawakan OST beberapa movie.

Seorang Filipino. Penyanyi senior yang sudah malang melintang di dunia permusikan sejak sebelum 1990 ini ternyata sudah menerima banyak penghargaan. Cukup mendengar satu buah lagunya, kalian mungkin akan langsung merasa familiar dengan warna lagu Lea. Yeah, berasa seperti menonton Mulan, Aladdin, dan film-film klasik lainnya ya nggak sih? Dia sering menyanyikan soundtrack movies, di antaranya film animasi Mulan dan Aladdin. Mendengar suaranya yang mezzosopran cukup untuk membuat kita merinding. Mungkin kalau kata temen gue, dia punya aliran soul kali ya. Satu lagu Lea, “Two Words (I do)” mungkin menjadi lagu favorit bagi banyak pasangan yang baru atau telah menikah kali ya. Well, another colour of music. A bit vintage tough.

Ahaha, entah kenapa artis ketiga yang gue temui ini juga seorang Filipinos. Gue agak geli juga sih mengetahui kepanjangan dari MYMP, Make Your Mama Proud. Titik kekuatan dari mereka bukan di inovasinya kali ya, seperti Christian Bautista, tapi lebih di suara vokalisnya yang seperti vokalis Ten2Five dari Indonesia untuk menyanyikan lagu-lagu cover yang terkenal. Hampir di setiap albumnya merupakan lagu cover dari penyanyi-penyanyi terkenal. Satu lagu cover MYMP yang mungkin sering didengar kalian mungkin “Especially for you”  yang aslinya dibawakan Kylie Minogue. Kalau ditanya aliran, hm… mungkin pop-slow-mellow.. atau akustik… hmm.. apa ya, setipe sama ten2five lah.

Freemason secret cipher

Wah, nggak nyangka ternyata waktu kita pramuka diajarin sandi rahasia (secret? really?) kelompok Mason Bebas. Begitu kata Dan Brown dalam novelnya yang terakhir The Lost Symbol. Dia selalu memberikan fakta-fakta untuk membuat karangan fiksi yang menakjubkan. Ah, ini sedikit spoiler jadi lupakan post ini kalau kalian tertarik membaca novelnya. Overall, gue nggak memberikan rekomendasi kalian untuk membaca novel ini sih. 5/10.

Tentang Mason sendiri penjelasannya cukup sulit, singkatnya suatu kelompok dengan ideologi liberal yang percaya akan astrologi, simbologi, dan hal-hal kuno serta mistis. Karena terkait dengan kelompok yahudi Internasional nggak heran kalau kelompok ini menyimpan banyak rahasia yang tidak diketahui khalayak ramai.

Kembali ke Freemason cipher. Mungkin waktu dulu kalian pramuka pernah bermain dengan sandi ini. Ternyata sandi ini punya kelompok rahasia di Amerika (Bapak bangsa orang Amerika hampir kesemuanya orang Mason). Dan sangat mudah dipecahkan, jadi ketika Robert Langdon menemukan teka-teki ini di US Capitol, gue dengan sepaham dengannya mengetahui satu kisi jawaban teka-teki ini.

Crap, SCTV (again) mengambil alih hak siar sepakbola

Setelah siaran langsung tim nasional diambil alih oleh SCTV sejak keberlangsungan piala AFF tahun 2010, SCTV kembali bergeliat untuk mengambil pasar sepakbola lainnya. SCTV Group terdiri dari stasiun SCTV itu sendiri, Indosiar, dan Nextmedia. Mulai musim 2012/2013 sampai 2014/2015 SCTV akan menyiarkan Liga Champions dan Liga Europa yang sebelumnya dipegang oleh MNC Group (RCTI, MNCTV, Global TV).

Nyon – UEFA telah memberikan hak siar Liga Champions untuk musim 2012/2013 sampai 2014/2015 di Indonesia kepada SCTV. Selain itu, SCTV juga akan menyiarkan pertandingan Liga Europa.

Dilansir situs resmi UEFA, SCTV akan menyiarkan pertandingan-pertandingan Liga Champions melalui saluran SCTV dan Indosiar. Sedangkan untuk jaringan TV kabel akan disiarkan melalui Nexmedia. Sebelumnya, hak siar Liga Champions di Indonesia dimiliki oleh RCTI dan Indovision.

Untuk siaran Liga Champions, SCTV akan menyiarkan satu pertandingan secara langsung dan dilanjutkan dengan program highlights di tiap malam pertandingan. Selain itu, SCTV juga akan menyiarkan tiga siaran tunda di tiap pekannya.

Sementara itu, Indosiar akan menyiarkan minimal dua siaran tunda tiap pekannya. Sedangkan Nexmedia akan menyiarkan satu pertandingan secara langsung serta sisa pertandingan secara tunda.

Untuk ajang Liga Europa, SCTV juga akan menyiarkan satu laga secara langsung, dua laga secara tunda, dan program highlights. Sementara Nexmedia akan menyiarkan semua sisa pertandingan secara tunda dan satu pertandingan secara langsung.

Dalam rilis tersebut juga disebutkan UEFA mengucapkan rasa terima kasihnya pada RCTI dan Indovision yang selama ini memegang hak siar Liga Champions dan Liga Europa di Indonesia.

Crap, ini bisa berarti bencana, untuk gw pribadi secara khusus. Sejauh ini stasiun TV lokal yang pernah bergeliat dalam dunia penyiaran sepakbola hanya ANTV, MNC Group, dan SCTV Group. Untuk yang terakhir baru terdengar namanya setelah Piala Dunia 2006 di Jerman.

Ada dua jenis penyiaran sepakbola: Penyiaran relay via satelit (stasiun TV hanya menayangkan saja gambar yang diterima dari satelit) dan Penyiaran yang dikelola sendiri oleh stasiun TV terkait.

Pada Piala Dunia 2006 dan 2010, gue sebenarnya cukup puas dengan performa SCTV dalam menyiarkan ajang sepakbola terbesar di dunia itu. Walaupun bentuk penyajiannya menurut gue kurang football-friendly dan lebih komersil, tapi gue masih puas. Nilai 7 dari 10 gue berikan untuk SCTV.

Tapi ketika giliran SCTV harus mengelola sendiri siaran itu (Piala AFF, Kualifikasi Pra Piala Dunia), they’re suck!!!  Bahkan ANTV lebih baik dalam urusannya menyiarkan sepakbola lokal. Gue inget banget ketika Indonesia bertanding dan disiarkan di TV, Stadion Gelora Bung Karno tampak seperti Laut Carribean. Kabut dan asap semuanya menutupi layar televisi, pencahayaan juga buruk, persiapan kamera sangat kacau, dan pengambilan shooting gambar juga jelek, timing perpindahan scene mereka buruk. Gue dengan susah payah menikmati permainan timnas garuda kita. Gue bersyukur Sea Games tidak harus disiarkan oleh SCTV melainkan oleh RCTI. Penyajian siaran langsung RCTI menghasilkan gambar yang baik, tidak ada kabut yang terlihat. Kalau ketika menonton pertandingan di SCTV GBK seperti hanya memakai lampu neon, semuanya serba hijau, kalau siaran yang dibuat oleh RCTI terang benderang.

Secara khusus terkait Liga Champion, gue nggak rela kalau hak siar berpindah tangan dari RCTI. Rasanya sangat sakral untuk menonton Liga Champion di RCTI sejak 1998-2012. Dengan anthem song Liga Champion yang selalu bikin merinding, penyajian Liga Champion di RCTI sangat football-friendly. Yang disiarkan hanya preview-highlight-komentator-quiz secukupnya lalu siaran langsung. Nggak banyak neko-neko. Satu hal yang pasti mereka lebih berpengalaman.

Ada tiga kemungkinan besar mengapa LC nggak disiarin sama RCTI :

1. RCTI nggak mau memperpanjang kontrak
2. SCTV mengambil inisiasi untuk mengkontrak hak siar LC dan UL
3. UEFA nggak mau menganggap terjadi monopoli hak siar di negara-negara pelanggan, hal yang sama terjadi ketika PD tahun 2006 diambil alih oleh SCTV

Budi Rahardjo vs Budi Raharjo

Beliau adalah salah satu dosen ITB yang gue kagumi. Beliau adalah panutan kenapa gue “sempet” ngepost tiap hari hampir satu tahun lamanya untuk mengisi waktu luang kalau lagi nggak skripsi. Ini adalah beberapa hal menarik tentang beliau (versi gue) :

• Mungkin gue udah pernah cerita kalau Pak Budi adalah dosen yang telah mengajar dua generasi : bokap gue, dan gue sendiri. Dengan gaya mengajarnya yang unik dan asik rasanya boleh dibilang beliau juga jadi salah satu dosen favorit gue.
• Pertama kalinya gue UTS online ya sama Pak Budi ini. Tapi, lapor pak, ujian online pakai moodle ada flaw nya, hehe mungkin bisa dicek konfigurasinya lain kali (well, anak-anak angkatan selanjutnya nggak menikmati momen ini sih, sorry guys). Sebelum kita submit jawaban kita bisa ngecek skor ujian, hahaha… pengalaman yang menarik. Hampir semua mahasiswa yang ikut ujian itu dapet nilai 100 untuk UTS itu.
• Pertama kali juga UAS boleh milih mau ikut ujian tertulis atau bikin makalah. Wew, sayang gue gak bikin makalah padahal udah dijanjikan dapat auto A kalau bikin makalah, namun karena saat itu lagi banjir deadline tugas besar akhirnya gue pilih ujian tertulis.
• Hey, nama Pak Budi pakai huruf “D”. Yeah, Will of “D” kalau kata one piece. Kalau kalian melihat buku seputar teknologi informasi dengan nama Budi Raharjo  itu bukan karangan beliau, demikian konfirmasi beliau saat kuliah dulu. Gue sempet tertipu juga saat membeli salah satu buku karangan bapak lainnya (dari penerbit-informatika kalau nggak salah). Mungkin itu sebabnya wordpress beliau diberi nama “rahard” ketimbang “rahar“. Yep, beda orang ternyata 😀
• Ini salah satu joke yang sering gue denger kalau seandainya seseorang punya doppelganger berarti mereka pantas menjadi orang besar (atau setidaknya mampu jadi presiden Amerika Serikat, presiden US selalu punya double! doublenya Obama kan dari menteng :p ). Gue ngelihat double Pak Budi di ITB juga. Mahasiswa S2 atau S3 yang sering kelihatan di sekitar labtek V (Benny Subianto). Jadi pantas kalau Pak Budi menjadi sosok terkemuka. Mungkin gue akan attach foto kembarannya Pak Budi kalau sempat.

Badminton : Single Common Sense

Setelah beberapa kali main single sama nicky dkk, unconscious simulator di kepala gue terus terusan bekerja secara keras.

Bola servis gue lambungkan, bola coba di clear lob ke ujung kanan oleh lawan, gue mundur jauh ke belakang, bola nampak mampu untuk di smash, sepintas gue mengintip posisi lawan dimana, mengetahui lawan sudah berada di posisi stabil di tengah lapangan yang terpikirkan oleh gue adalah antara melakukan drop shot menyilang, drop shot ke sisi terdekat, clear lob tapi gue gak yakin punya kekuatan untuk melakukan clear sejauh itu untuk menyilangkan bola, atau di smash.

Whoosh!!

Terlalu banyak berpikir bola yang coba gue smash menyangkut ke net.

Kali ini giliran gue menerima servis. Gue berdiri di tengah-tengah untuk mengantisipasi panjangnya ruang servis untuk game single badminton namun cukup untuk menjangkau bola servis pendek dari lawan. Bola yang diservis oleh lawan melambung tinggi sangat jauh. Gue sudah siap dengan mundur jauh ke belakang. Posisi lawan ada di tengah namun condong ke kanan dari pandangan gue. Secepat kilat gue coba drop shot ke kiri dekat net. Lawan masih bisa menjangkaunya dan………

Well, berbagai kombinasi pukulan dan gerakan berputar-putar di kepala gue.

Tahukah Anda terkadang unconscious simulator yang bekerja di kepala Anda merupakan common sense startegy yang kita pikirkan tapi belum mampu kita realisasikan di dunia nyata.

Bermain single/tunggal dan bermain double/ganda  di badminton sangat berbeda dari segi strategi. Bermain single kita harus bisa lebih taktis, dimana setiap pukulan dari kita harus bisa menyulitkan lawan. Jika bermain ganda ketika bola kembalian kita tidak terlalu sulit untuk dibalas oleh lawan, kita masih bisa selamat dari serangan lawan karena kita main berdua. Kita punya cukup waktu untuk melakukan recovery posisi.

Main single nggak bisa gitu. Kalau kita salah mengembalikan bola, kita akan mati menerima respon dari lawan. Atau paling nggak kita bakal dibuli-buli sama lawan.

Misalnya saja kita mendapatkan bola di depan net, naluri kita kebanyakan akan melakukan netting bukan? Kalau kalian melakukan itu tanpa melihat posisi lawan dimana saat itu, kita akan mati pada langkah selanjutnya. Entah kita sudah ditunggu di depan net, atau bola sudah siap untuk dilob ke tempat yang jauh dari jangkauan kita.

Rule utamanya : Selalu mengintip posisi lawan sebelum mengembalikkan bola. Setiap kembalian bola dari kita harus menyulitkan lawan. Mengembalikkan bola clear lob yang gagal adalah hukuman mati bagi kita. 

Berikut beberapa common sense yang gue tangkap selama menyaksikan berbagai pertandingan bulu tangkis, dan berdasarkan yang gue alami selama bermain single dalam badminton.

1. Service Common Sense (single)

Kebanyakan servis akan dilakukan dengan melob tinggi ke belakang.

Alasan 1 : Dengan melakukan servis pendek, posisi kita lebih vulnerable.

Alasan 2 : Lawan yang diberikan servis pendek cenderung dapat mengembalikan bola semau mereka dan lebih mudah. Mereka bisa melakukan netting, netting silang, lob silang, lob lurus, ataupun pukulan drive. Disadvantage bagi kita adalah mereka punya banyak opsi mengembalikan bola.

Alasan 3 : Terutama kalau yang main pemula sih, dengan kita memberikan servis panjang ke belakang (lob), lawan akan lebih sulit mengembalikan bola. Opsi mereka hanya dua : drop shot/smash (bola akan jatuh di daerah dekat net atau tengah) dan Clear Lob (bola akan jatuh di belakang lapangan). Sementara itu kita sudah siap di tengah kemanapun lawan akan mengembalikan bola.

Lawan yang siap akan segera mundur ke belakang dan mengambil posisi smash. Jangan khawatir karena daerah jangkauan smash mereka sangat kecil, terutama jika lawan tidak memiliki kemampuan smash yang di atas rata-rata. Dan kalau mereka memaksakan smash tajam kemungkinan menyangkut di net tinggi.

Bola akan lebih sering di lob ke belakang atau melakukan drop shot menyilang.

2. Netting Common Sense (Single)

Kebanyakan orang (terutama pemula) sebaiknya tidak terlalu sering melakukan netting kecuali jika jarak lawan relatif jauh dari target netting kita. Netting silang opsi yang baik.

3. Menerima hasil lob bola (single)

Cara ini dapat dicoba sesekali : Kembalikan bola lob ke daerah lob sebelumnya. Biasanya setelah mengembalikan bola lob, orang cenderung lari maju ke tengah untuk mengcover lapangan dan ketika kita segera mengembalikan bola mereka dengan entah lob ataupun drive ke daerah itu kembali mereka akan sudah salah langkah. (Most of newbies will be defeated by this method, I’m talking about me especially lol)

Misal lawan berada di kanan belakang melakukan clear bola lob dengan lob, coba kembalikan kembali ke kanan belakang. Biasanya orang akan salah langkah, dan sebaik-baiknya lawan tersebut biasanya mereka akan mengembalikan bola yang relatif mudah untuk kita.

4. What to do next?

Apa yang harus kita lakukan selanjutnya? Selalu berikan bola yang sulit dikembalikan untuk lawan, common sensenya ya coba permainkan lawan. Kalau posisi mereka dekat kasih bola jauh, begitu pula sebaliknya.

Coba jangan monoton. Jangan terus-terusan melakukan lob. Kombinasikan netting, lob, drop shot, dan smash. Servis pun begitu kadang-kadang coba tipu lawan dengan servis pendek.

5. Dua soft skill yang cukup perlu dilatih oleh kita

1# Mengintip posisi lawan sebelum memukul bola (minimal). Kalau mata kalian lebih jago lagi coba mengintip flow gerakan lawan sebelum memukul (GREAT!!)

2# Pukul bola dengan delay sepersekian second. Dengan melatih skill ini, lawan akan lebih sering tertipu. Misal bola yang hampir terpukul oleh kita untuk dilakukan netting, dalam sepersekian detik, kita coba tahan untuk tidak memukulnya namun justru kita berikan clear lob ke belakang. Selain tipuan jenis pukulan, bisa juga kita lakukan tipuan arah pukulan. Yang tadinya posisi tubuh kita untuk melakukan netting adalah ke arah lurus, coba tahan bola itu sebentar di udara lalu lakukan netting menyilang.

Common sensenya : seorang pemain akan bergerak mengikuti motion gerakan lawan yang akan memberikan bola.

6. Basic pukulan yang wajib dikuasai ketika bermain single

Pukulan clear lob. Pukulan melambung tinggi ke daerah belakang lapangan lawan.

Kebanyakan pemain pemula tidak memiliki tenaga untuk melakukan ini sehingga bola kembaliannya cenderung tanggung sehingga lawan dengan mudah dapat memberikan smash.

Penting sekali melatih kekuatan tangan kita untuk melakukan clear lob. Coba perbaiki posisi tubuh saat melakukan pukulan lob. Coba latih juga kegesitan agar kita dapat segera bisa lari ke belakang untuk mengambil bola lob. Membeli raket yang lebih ringan juga dapat membantu kita mendapatkan power clear lob. (Raket sambungan yang ada T nya cenderung berat, tapi raket itu bisa juga digunakan untuk melatih power kita).

Dengan menguasai pukulan clear lob, mulai dari akurasi pukulan, power(tidak terlalu lemah untuk menjadi bola tanggung atau tidak terlalu kencang sehingga bola out), dan kegesitan mengambil posisi tubuh, kita akan lebih aman ketika bertahan. Dengan melakukan clear lob, bola cenderung melayang cukup lama di udara sehingga memberikan kita cukup waktu untuk mengambil posisi yang bagus untuk defend.

Netting dan smash juga pukulan yang oke untuk dikuasai untuk memberikan poin. Tapi dalam bermain single pukulan clear lob lebih memberikan nyawa dan nafas untuk kita. Clear lob yang paling sulit adalah ketika kita harus melakukannya dalam posisi backhand. Kalau kalian belum menguasainya? Lebih gesit, lakukan forehand clear lob dimanapun kalian berada lol 😀

It’s Time for World BWF Superseries Finals

Yeah, ini sudah masuk akhir tahun, itu tandanya sudah saatnya kita masuk pada final BWF superseries.

Sekedar info bagi mereka yang belum tahu bahwa BWF (organisasi bulutangkis dunia) setiap tahunnya menggelar event superseries yang wajib diikuti oleh pebulu tangkis profesional setiap tahunnya. Superseries ini terdiri dari kurang lebih 10 event per tahunnya. Masing-masing superseries ini dikategorikan menjadi 2. Superseries Premiere dan superseries biasa. Kategori ini dibedakan oleh jumlah hadiah yang disediakan oleh organizernya. Superseries itu diantaranya China (2-3 event), Indonesia, Korea, Singapura, Inggris, dan lain-lain.

Setiap pebulutangkis diwajibkan berpartisipasi di sejumlah superseries ini. Jika tidak berpartisipasi di sejumlah superseries tersebut maka ia tidak berhak untuk ikut di final superseries. Setiap memenangkan gelar di masing-masing superseries tersebut pebulutangkis akan memperoleh poin berdasarkan posisi mereka (juara, runner-up, semifinalis, quarterfinalis, dst). Poin itu akan dijumlahkan dengan aturan tertentu dan akan dilihat hasilnya pada akhir tahun. Delapan pebulutangkis dengan posisi teratas untuk masing-masing nomor (Man Single, Man Double, Mixed Double, Woman Single, dan Woman Double) akan diikutsertakan dalam final superseries di akhir tahun. Hadiahnya tentu sangat menggiurkan walaupun kebanggaan jelas lebih diharapkan oleh setiap pebulu tangkis.

Ada aturan tambahan bahwa dari delapan wakil untuk masing-masing nomor hanya diperbolehkan diwakili oleh dua wakil untuk masing-masing negara. Jadi misalkan China untuk tahun ini memiliki empat wakil di tunggal putra (MS) yang berada di delapan terbaik superseries, maka hanya dua yang boleh ikut final dan dua posisi lainnya akan digantikan oleh wakil dari negara lain yang berposisi 9, dan 10 (Dalam kasus tahun 2011, dua wakil China tersebut digantikan oleh Taufik Hidayat dan Simon Santoso dari Indonesia).

Urutan 1,3,5,7 akan tergabung dalam grup A, sementara urutan 2,4,6,8 tergabung dalam grup B untuk masing-masing nomor dalam sistem round robin. Selanjutnya dua pebulutangkis terbaik dari masing-masing grup akan lolos ke babak selanjutnya yang mempertemukan antara juara grup dengan runner up grup lainnya, untuk akhirnya bertemu di final dari superseries final ini.

Random Flickr Shot, sorry

Annoying picture? sexy woman? not appropirate theme? Terkadang gue sendiri merasa terganggu dengan gambar random dari widget  “Flickr” pada kolom sisi blog ini.

Suatu saat widget ini memunculkan gambar pemandangan yang mempesona dengan teknik fotografi yang keren. Foto lainnya memunculkan gambar pop-up yang unik dengan model figur yang lucu-lucu. Di kesempatan lain muncul foto abstrak dan sedikit bumbu Photoshop. Atau kita juga bisa melihat foto kucing atau anjing yang difoto sedemikian rupa lucunya. Tapi di satu kesempatan lain dapat pula muncul foto model seksoi dengan hanya mengenakan beberapa helai kain aja (yang mungkin bagi beberapa orang risih melihatnya). Well, it’s random.

Di beberapa kesempatan gue sering menyimpan ke komputer foto-foto yang muncul di widget yang gue anggap bagus. Banyak hal yang bisa dipeplajari dari mengamati foto-foto keren ini:

• Komposisi. Dengan sering mempelajari foto-foto orang, kita bisa tahu bagaimana mengambil komposisi foto yang bagus. Bagaimana kita memotong (crop) foto sedemikian rupa sehingga foto memiliki komposisi yang ideal. Terkadang kita juga dapat mempelajari komposisi out of the box dari foto-foto keren ini.
• Tone. Nggak ada yang salah dengan preferensi orang mengenai tone warna. Ada yang bilang tone foto A bagus dengan dominasi warna biru pada fotonya. Ada yang bilang tone netral dengan RGB yang seimbang dianggap lebih baik. Terlepas dari subjektivitas orang menilai seberapa bagus tone dari suatu foto, dengan sering melihat banyak foto profesional kita dapat mengetahui perbedaan penggunaan tone untuk masing-masing keperluan. Lama-kelamaan kita bisa tahu mana tone yang menurut kita anggap baik untuk kita tiru di kemudian hari
• Lainnya. Pengarahan gaya untuk foto model. Brightness, pengaturan pengambilan cahaya. Foto siluet. Pantulan gambar pada permukaan air. Foto miniatur. Banyak lagi teknik foto yang bisa kita pelajari dari mengamati foto-foto ini.

Dengan alasan inilah gue tetap mempertahankan widget Flickr di sisi kolom blog ini, terlepas terkadang muncul foto yang mungkin kurang berkenan untuk kita lihat (mungkin subjektif untuk masing-masing orang). Sorry, I just can’t help it.

The Mentalist Renewed For Fourth Season

The crime drama returns to Thursdays in the Fall.

CBS revealed its lineup for the 2011-12 season yesterday, which confirmed that crime drama The Mentalist has been renewed for a fourth season.

Over its three seasons on the air, the series has been one of the network’s top shows, regularly winning its time period. The series will return to Thursday nights at 10:00pm in the Fall, following J.J. Abrams’ latest series, freshman crime thriller Person of Interest.

Grimm Gets A Full Season

NBC has greenlit the back nine episodes of its new fantasy drama.

After a solid start since premiering last month, Grimm has been given a full season pickup. NBC has ordered nine additional episodes of the series, topping up the total count to 22.

The network also announced that the fairy tale cop drama will air on a special night – Thursday, December 8 at 10:00pm. The show isn’t switching nights though, as another new episode is currently scheduled for the following night in its regular Friday time slot.

Suits Renewed by USA Network For Season 2

The hour-long dramedy will be back with a 16-episode second season.

USA has renewed freshman series Suits for a second season. The network is upping the episode count this time around, ordering 16 new episodes versus the 12 the first season got.

Suits has had a solid outing thus far for USA, becoming its third-best performing freshman series. Ratings-wise it pulls in an average 6.3 million weekly viewers with a 2.1 in the adults 18-49 demographic (Live + 7 data).

Five episodes remain in the show’s first season, including tonight’s. Season 1 is set to conclude next month on September 8. No time frame has been announced yet for the second-season return.

The Glades Renewed For Third Season

The cop drama will return in 2012 for Season 3.

A&E has renewed sophomore series The Glades for a third season. One of the network’s three original scripted dramas, the show has aired two 13-episode seasons since premiering in 2010.

Season 3 of The Glades is slated to return in the summer of 2012.

Dexter Renewed For Two More Seasons

The Showtime drama will return for seasons 7 and 8.

Showtime has renewed its hit series Dexter for two additional seasons, it was announced today. Currently in its sixth season, the serial killer drama has so far been averaging just over 5 million weekly viewers across all platforms, which makes it the show’s highest-rated season yet.

“Dexter’s enormous success is a real tribute to the great achievements of its cast, producers, and the powerhouse performance of Michael C. Hall,”said Showtime’s President of Entertainment, David Nevins.  “The series is bigger than it’s ever been in its sixth season, both in terms of audience and its impact on the cultural landscape.  Together with Michael, the creative team on the show has a very clear sense of where they intend to take the show over the next two seasons and, as a huge fan, I’m excited to watch the story of Dexter Morgan play out.”

The network has ordered 12 episodes for each of Dexter‘s seventh and eighth seasons.

Two days after airing its premiere episode, Game of Thrones has been renewed by HBO for a second season.

The freshman series debuted Sunday evening to a mediocre 2.2 million viewers (jumping to 4.2 million if you factor in its three back-to-back airings). While the numbers were on the low end of the scale, it was clearly enough for the network to want to bring the show back for another season. It also doesn’t sound so bad when you consider that now-hit series True Blood premiered to only 1.4 million viewers.

Expect Season 2 of Game of Thrones to kick off some time next year and likely be based on the second book in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series, A Clash of Kings.

Getting started with select menu and button jquery

Annoy with default button/input submit and select/option menu form?

Jquery Select Menu *thanks filament group!!*

I love the default styling from jquery, especially for select menu plugin that still in development (although it have worked well in most cases). Actually I only need that the option item in select from can warp the text if it’s too long.

Unfortunately I don’t find jquery select menu when I googled the issue at the first time. The other plugins I found offer many dropdown styling with div-ul-li element+css+javascript combination, but they won’t work like common select. They need to be pre-processed before we can really submit to the target page. I think Jquery plugin select menu (TM Filament group) work really amazing and also neat.  They work just like common select.

Oasis

It’s time to listen to vintage for a while.

Beberapa minggu terakhir penasaran sama warna musik yang diberikan grup band Oasis. Walaupun Oasis udah “bubar” sekitar tahun 2009 lalu, tidak menyurutkan semangat gue untuk mencari semua albumnya. Berawal dari satu buah lagu “wonderwall” yang cukup memorable waktu kuliah dulu, akhirnya coba-coba download beberapa album punya band asal Inggris ini.

Dengan pentolannya Gallagher bersaudara dan beberapa awak lainnya, Oasis cukup konsisten dengan warna lagunya yang sedikit nge-pop. Walaupun berasal dari Inggris Raya, mereka sempat nggak dianggap sebagai aliran britpop oleh kalangan british saat pertama kali mereka muncul (yang berbarengan dengan eranya britpop, blur). Sempat berganti-ganti personil akhirnya mereka cukup sukses dengan mengeluarkan 7 album hingga yang terakhir dikeluarkan pada tahun 2008.

His speech thanked Bonehead, McGuigan and Alan White but not his brother, Noel.^[82] Liam threw his microphone and the band’s award into the crowd.^[83] On 15 March 2010, Liam defended his actions at the awards ceremony, saying “I’m sick of it all being about me and Noel, the last couple of months has pretty much been all about me and him so I thought it was only right to mention the other lads who played on the album and the best fans in the world.” and “I thought it was a nice gesture to give this to the fans, obviously it was misinterpreted as per usual.” about throwing the award.^[84]

Noel Gallagher performed solo concerts on 25 and 26 March, as part of a series of Teenage Cancer Trust shows, alongside acts such as Depeche Mode, Them Crooked Vultures, Suede, Arctic Monkeys, and The Who.^[85] Noel continued to play Oasis songs live, as he had in the past, including songs originally sung by Liam. British newspaper The Sun gave Noel a five out of five score for his concert.^[86]

Also that month, Liam Gallagher showed a sign of peace towards his brother when he was asked in an interview who the “ultimate frontman” is, and he replied: “Noel Gallagher. What makes a good frontman? Behaving yourself, and not jumping around like a bastard.”^[87] Liam was voted rock’s best frontman by Q magazine.

Ada beberapa juga yang lupa nama tempatnya, lupa posisinya, lupa pernah makan disana apa nggak. Karena bandung adalah salah satu surganya kuliner di Indonesia.

The best way to do this is to put DIV elements around each section of your page. For example, you might have the following sections:

Define each of them with a DIV element:
