cmd vs terminal

Februari 28, 2009 at 2:47 AM (dokumentasi, freeBSD)

command prompt windows vs terminal unix. Unix almost has the similar command as windows.

No. Linux Windows
1 command –help command /h, command /?
2 man command help command
3 cp copy
4 rm del
5 mv move
6 mv ren
7 more, less, cat type
8 lpr print
9 rm -R deltree
10 ls dir
11 cd cd
12 mkdir md
13 rmdir rd
14 route route print
15 traceroute –I tracert
16 ping ping
17 ifconfig ipconfig

Function:

  1. help, /h, /?:    show short description about some command and its parameters
  2. manual:  show detail description of one command.
  3. copy file
  4. delete file
  5. move file
  6. mv, ren: rename file
  7. type: displays the contents of file text
  8. print: print file into printer device
  9. deltree: delete folder and its contents
  10. displays files and subdirectories in a directory
  11. cd: change directory
  12. md, mkdir: make directory
  13. rd,rmdir: remove directory
  14. route print: Display the routing table
    The command route serves to define static routes, to erase routes
    or simply to see the state of the routes.
  15. Show the route that the packets follow to reach the machine
    “host”. Example: tracert www.google.com
  16. Verify the contact with the machine “host”
    Example: ping www.google.com
  17. ipconfig, ifconfig: Display information on the active interfaces (ethernet, ppp, etc.)

Okay, that’s it. thx for kunz and the sources(hacker_highscool)

7 beta is more stable

Februari 27, 2009 at 5:56 PM (technology)

I’ve been using seven beta to replace my ubuntu for a while. I think this beta is stable. If you’ve tried the previous microsoft made beta version such as vista longhorn beta, or XP beta, you’ll see the differences.

This beta version of seven has some great point. You can imagine that its performance is as good as XP while its interface is as cool as vista. You can see some great effect(of course it costs your memory) like a pop up thumbnail icon at the taskbar. The sidebar which is adjusted as the standard of vista interface isn’t there. It’s great because sidebar consumes much memory. But you still can add it if you want to.

I think there’s only small part of this beta version which have to be took after. Some of programs still incompatible with this version although they say it will be work on the official release party.

Beside that, its beta version has good improvement. The UAC(user account control) now has more options. You can choose how strong the UAC have to control the changing of your system. It consume approximately 13 GB of your systems, like I said before, 7 is between XP and vista. I hope that the official released will be as good as this.

Welcome 7.

hey, chiawalla… the answer is…

Februari 27, 2009 at 8:21 AM (Uncategorized)

A. you’re cheating

Here it is, the greatest India(Bollywood?) film ever that they have had and I’ve ever seen I think.

B. You’re Lucky

Pertama gue tertarik nonton karena, wew kk wew, ternyata film ini mengisahkan tentang kontestan kuis yang sangat terkenal di dunia, “who wants to be a millionaire”. Kemudian gue sempet kecewa karena rupanya ini adalah “who wants to be a millionaire”-nya India, gue pikir filmnya hollywood.

C. You’re Genius

Ok, gue gak bakal lanjtuin ceritain spoilernya karena gue bakalan dilemparin pie dari penonton. Yup, tontonin aja, cari bajakannya kalo perlu.. keren banget boss, sumpe…

D. It’s written there
D stands for Destiny
D stands for Damn-cool, Damn-fantastic

PSF(post script fact). I don’t know is it a fact or a bluff, but they said that if you wanna be a “who wants to be a millionaire” contestant, please press the registration call number when they say “IF”. That’s the time the operator open the phone lines.  Dont take it seriously anyway :D :D :D

go in and out from freebsd(vmware)

Februari 25, 2009 at 3:49 AM (freeBSD)

okay, some ages ago.. I’ve told you the story about how to install freeBSD via vmware, let’s play a bit in these next days..

  • let’s start with running the vmware machine.
  • Set configure the source of vmware(either you use file image/ .iso or CD).
  • you’ll see the booting menu
  • after booting, you’ll see the authentification user login form. If you wanna go as guest(I recommend you do this) or login as root, which those password and user have set firstly on the installation.
      • user: ???
      • password: ???
  • Okay then the entering phase has completed…
  • if you have finished playing on it, let shut it down
  • type:
      • exit
  • login as root
      • user: root
      • password : ????
  • as root you can shutdown(and turn off the hardware/vmware machine) pefectly with this:
      • shutdown -p now
  • or maybe you just wanna reboot(still as root), use this:
      • shutdown -r now

okay, that’s it for today:

  1. you have succesfully enter the freeBSD via vmware
  2. you have succesfully login as a root
  3. you have succesfully shutdown as a root

habis oranje terbitlah biru

Februari 25, 2009 at 2:45 AM (freeBSD, ubuntuholic)

Brrrr, seger ngeliatnya.

Dengan demikian berakhirlah beberapa persoalan seperti:

  • Ketiadaan windows sebagai first platform(waktu install ubuntu 8.10 kemarin, ketimpa..)
  • Gue lupa ngasih swap partitions buat memory tambahan di ubuntu, kyaa…
  • Sejarah bermain partisi hardisk laptop gue yang buruk(blom dapet plajaran tentang penggunaan memori waktu itu) :
    • Vista Basic+data  –> pengen nyoba open sors
    • Vista Basic+Ubuntu 8.04+data  –> pengen tripel ma XP
    • XP SP3+Vista+Ubuntu8.04+data –> sial boot loadernya ketimpa.. saking malesnya install vista lagi..
    • Vista Ultimate+data1+data2  –> xpnya sekalian dijadikan partisi untuk data
    • Vista Ultimate+unalloc partition(UP)(cuma 5 giga bro..)+Ubuntu8.04+data1+dat2+unalloc partition(cuma 199MB klo gak salah) –>lumayan pewe sih, tapi tiba2 datanglah ubuntu 8.10 interpid Ibex
    • vista(gak kedeteksi, tapi ukuran gak berkurang)+ubuntu8.10+data1+data2+UP1+UP2
Windows7 beta ultimate+data+unalloc(buat ubuntu 9.04 nanti)
  • kejenuhan dengan warna oranje, dan kerinduan akan program-program yang bisa jalan di windows, spt adobe CS, flash, program2 masa datang, vmware, dll… i love u all…
  • kalau install ubuntu lagi, wine-nya bakalan kembali ngefek.. udah ada C: benerannya sekarang

Windows!! I’ve come back to you!! tunggu kedatangan Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope yang bakal ngedual kamu lagi..

PS: Special thanks to: external hardisk gw, “temen, temen kosan, sodara, dll” yang udah bersedia dvd/cd burnernya gw tumpangi buat buck up

great, NTLDR is missing!!

Februari 23, 2009 at 7:48 AM (problem solving, tricks)

Pernah tiba-tiba habis booting muncul pesan:

NTLDR is Missing..

introduction C++

Februari 23, 2009 at 3:38 AM (C/C++, programming)

danke.. danke..

thanx for all the attention to me..

:D

it’s my first official practice on C++. I’ve found many new things on this paradigm, OOP-object oriented programming. Maybe I’ll share some good things to be remembered for a C++ starter.

  • Nowadays, we use a new compiler for c++, for example GCC(the up-to-date one), visualC++, cygwin, etc. There are some differences about how to code in each compiler. The new one doesn’t need to put .h on each included function as iostream, fstream, etc. Here the rules:
//file coba0.cpp
#include <iostream.h>

int main()
{
cout<<"hai hai.."<<endl;
return 0;
}

When we started learn to code C language that script seems similar. And of course you can write it like that, because C++ is an impure OOP language. But, it works only at old versions of C++ compiler. So if that code is compiled at newer compiler your code may be wrong.  You should start to write like this:

//file coba.cpp
#include <iostream>
int main()
{
  std::cout<<"hai hai.."<<endl;
  return 0;
}

See the difference?! the library inclusion doesn’t need ‘.h’. Because of this, you must add each iostream function with its class at first. But it’s must be tiring to add std:: everytime we call cout and cin function of iostream. So basically you just put “using namespace std;” globally, like this:

//file coba.cpp
#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
int main()
{
  cout<<"hai hai.."<<endl;
  return 0;
}

why we shouldn’t use iostream.h anymore? I’ve quoted the answer from gamedev.net:

There are several reasons why new code should be written using the extensionless version of the header files instead of the .h forms. The first is the unpredictability of such code when compiled on modern compilers. As previously mentioned, the result of using the .h headers is implementation specific. And as time goes by, the chance that a given compiler will have the old style library available decreases.

Even given a compiler that has the CFront iostream library available, there are concrete benefits to using the standard version. For one thing, the standard version has an interface that is exception aware. This includes both defining exceptions that the iostream library may throw, but also reducing the number of ways that the iostream library may be interfaced in exception unsafe ways. For example, elimination of two stage construction of iostream objects reduces the possibility of leaking resources.

The new style iostreams also integrate better with the rest of the Standard C++ Library. The best example of this is using istreambuf_iterators to load an entire file into a container.

Also, the standard C++ library has better localization support. This includes the use of locales with stream objects to handle things such as determining if a “.” or a “,” is used as a decimal seperator. It also includes wide character support to handle a larger range of local characters.

  • don’t ever forget to add semicolon after “}” at the end of the class. It has troubled me in the first time. At that time, I have been searching for a day to find that mistake. The implementation itself doesn’t need it.
class rizky
{
public:
void kick();
void throwAway();
private:
int parts;
}; //<---DON'T EVER FORGET THIS LITTLE BUNNY ";"

//implementation
void rizky::kick()
{
   //......write some codes here......
} //<----------you don't need to add semicolon here
void rizky::throwAway()
{
   //......write some codes here......
} //<---you don't need to add semicolon here

okay…

that’s it for today!!

Ubuntu renew its version each 6 month.  Next april(2009), Ubuntu 9.04 will be released. Its code name: Jaunty Jackalope

As you know, Ubuntu is one of open source OS which many peoples get into it. And it’s really something to wait the renew of our ubuntu. I’ve just know that each version of ubuntu has code name. Of course microsoft also makes a code name for  their released version. Like Microsoft Vista-Longhorn or XP ultimate-vienna 2008, etc.

There is the stable and End-Of-Life version of Ubuntu:

FYI:End of Life version mean that there’s no further development for those versions.

wow, I think the code name of each version is really unique. The second word is an animal names, and the first one explain the adjecive of that animal. The first letter of each world always same. Furthermore, if we look the table we can see the pattern about the first letter of each version(and let me translete it for my friends in indonesia, sorry for bad translation anyway) :

4.10 -> warty warthog —> W = babi penuh kutil

warty warthog

5.04 -> hoary hedgehog –> H = landak tua

5.10–> breezy badger——> B =tupai yang sedang gembira

breezy badger

6.06–> dapper drake——-> D = bebek yang ingin tampil up to date

dapper drake

6.10–> edgy eft————–> E = kadal yang menantang

edgy eft

7.04–> feisty fawn———-> F = anak rusa yang tak takut

warty warthog

7.10–> gutsy gibbon——–> G = awa yang gagah berani

gutsy gibbon

8.04–> hardy heron——–> H = burung bangau yang keras

hardy heron

8.10–> interpid ibex——–> I = kambing gunung yang tak pernah takut dan keras kepala

interpid ibex

9.04–> jaunty jackalope–> J = jackalope yang selalu tampil baru

jaunty jackalope

more and more likely ubuntu developers will use these pattern as guidance, and What’s next?

Kirky koala? Kicky kangaroo?

who knows…(ykzir)

gak berwarna
kayanya hari ini seperti foto rekayasa potosop sepia

rumit

swap partition

Februari 16, 2009 at 10:25 PM (ubuntuholic)

it’s good for you to auto learning from book, from googles, or anywhere. But, sometimes you need to ask the GURU for advance advice. I’ve got the curse for happily toying with my ACER notebook. I try Ubuntu ever since last year, and I’ve got no problem from this distro.

There’s one thing that make me curious. When I was dualing my Vista with Ubuntu in the first time, I found something that i didn’t understand. But, this young gun never listened to the angel. I’ve just installed it ignored the warning.

It said,”Are you really sure wanna install Ubuntu with this configuration? remember you haven’t make a swap partition!”

Well, for the first time, I thought My notebook would explode, but it didn’t.” Whoa!! my ubuntu worked! Lately, I wonder what swap partition in linux’s distro made for? So, I google it. And what I’ve found surprisingly shocked me. Swap partition works as either to increase the performance of the OS or as replacement of memory.

Crap!!

It means that someday when I put some applications that needs high amount of memory usage my computer system will collapses. So hear my suggestion:

Don’t ever forget to set the swap partition!!!

For technical setting about swap partition you can see this link
